Why You’ll Love this Recipe!

Garlic bread is the perfect, quick and easy addition to just about any meal. Once you learn how to make garlic bread you will want to add it to every meal.

I love to add cheese to my garlic bread but you can definitely make it without. We have a favorite little local pasta place near us that we love to go to and we frequent it for date night often. Everything they make is delicious but they have the best garlic bread! I love recreating it at home with this recipe.

Ingredients Needed

  • Bread. I like to use a baguette but you can use any style of bread you prefer.
  • Butter. I use salted butter and be sure your butter is softened, at room temperature.
  • Garlic. Fresh garlic will give you the best flavor. If you don’t have fresh garlic you can use garlic powder.
  • Cheese. I use a combination of cheddar, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. You can make this garlic bread with or without cheese. My favorite is with cheese!

How to make garlic bread

  • In a bowl, combine the softened butter, cheeses and chopped garlic together. Stir to combine.

  • Slice your bread horizontally.

  • Spread the garlic butter mixture over the bread, bringing it clear to the edges.  Spread it as thick as you like, the thicker, the cheesier.

  • Place it on a baking sheet and put it under the broiler to broil for a few minutes until the cheese melts and gets bubbly and begins to brown around the edges.  Watch it close, it can burn quickly!  (Trust me on this one)

  • Slice up your bread and it’s ready to enjoy! Now that you know how to make garlic bread – go make some!

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of bread should I use for homemade garlic bread?

I prefer a French baguette but you can also use a loaf of ,Italian bread or a loaf of French bread.  You just want bread that is soft on the inside and crusty on the outside.

How do I store leftover garlic bread?

If you use cheese, it will need to be stored in the refrigerator. If you haven’t used cheese you can store it at room temperature for 1-2 days. Keep it covered with plastic wrap.

What is the best way to reheat garlic bread?

Wrap it in foil and place in a 350 degree F oven for about 10 minutes or until warmed through.

Garlic Bread Variations

  • Make it without cheese if you prefer.
  • Add in some chopped green onion, chives or fresh parsley for additional flavor and color.
  • Sprinkle the garlic bread with some Italian seasoning or dried oregano for more flavor.
  • Add some fresh herbs such as rosemary, basil, thyme or oregano in with your garlic and butter mixture.

I would love to try this garlic bread (but on gf rolls) and I would use it to reheat things such as pizza. I would also make a small serving of nachos 🙂

I’d cook just about everything in this oven. I had a toaster oven, but the cord started getting hot so I quit using it.
