Key Lime White Popcorn is the perfect combination of white chocolate and citrus.  The addition of graham crackers to the popcorn gives you that key lime pie flavor!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe!

I will pick a citrus flavor over chocolate any day!  Don’t get me wrong, I love chocolate  but I love citrus a bit more. But when I can have my citrus flavor with chocolate that is even better. Today’s recipe for Key Lime Popcorn makes it so I don’t have to choose!

Ingredients Needed

  • Popcorn. I prefer to use popcorn done in the air popper but you can also use microwave popcorn.  You need about 16 cups of popped corn.
  • White Chocolate.  You can use white chocolate chips, almond bark (found in the baking aisle) or vanilla melts.  I actually prefer the melts as they melt easier and smoother.
  • Graham Crackers.  You can use graham cracker crumbs but I prefer broken up graham crackers so I have bigger pieces of cracker.
  • Lime Extract
  • Lime Zest

How to Make Key Lime Popcorn

  • Melt Chocolate in the microwave or in a double boiler.
  • Pour melted chocolate over popcorn and stir to coat.

  • Spread popcorn on parchment paper.
  • Sprinkle evenly with crushed graham cracker crumbs.

  • Melt the remaining chocolate.
  • Add lime zest, lime extract and green food coloring to the metled chocolate and stir.
  • Drizzle over top of popcorn
  • Allow to set up, then break into pieces before serving.

Tips from leigh Anne

  1. If you want to pop your own popcorn instead of using microwave popcorn, you will need 1/2 cup of popcorn for per microwave bag. So a total of 1 cup of unpopped popcorn will yield the same amount of popcorn as two bags of microwave popcorn.
  2. Substitute lemons or oranges for a fun flavor variation of this key lime popcorn.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will white chocolate popcorn last?

Not very long at our house! But if you store it in an airtight container it will last for a couple of weeks. You just better hide it somewhere!!

How do you melt chocolate?

I usually use my microwave. Use a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 30 second intervals, white chocolate burns more quickly than semi sweet or milk chocolate. You can also use a double boiler to melt the chocolate on the stove top.
If your chocolate does not melt smoothly and you end up with some lumps, add in a little vegetable or coconut oil and stir again.

This recipe sounds very good. However as a Certified Aromatherapist I would suggest you not use the essential oil. Ingesting essential oils can cause many problems unless you are taking them under the care of a doctor. Aromatherapists in the U.S. do not recommend ingesting essential oils.

I appreciate your comment Carol but I use doTERRA Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils and they are totally safe to take internally.
